Two fatal crashes in Cleburne County, and one fatal crash in Izard County have occurred in the past two days on state highways.
On Sunday, May 16, a Kymco motorcycle ridden by the victim, Jamie L. Johnson, 47, of Drasco, was traveling southbound on State Highway 25 near Drasco.
The Arkansas State Police’s preliminary report said, while negotiating a curve to the left, the motorcycle left the west side of the roadway, traveled approximately 82 feet along the roadside before coming to a final rest on its side.
Then on Monday, a traffic accident on State Highway 110 in rural Cleburne County took the life of a Heber Springs man. The accident involved a car and a golf cart.
According to the Arkansas State Police’s preliminary report, a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling east on State Highway 110, and the golf cart was in the south ditch attempting to make a U-Turn.
Trooper Quinton Maag said the golf cart crossed into the eastbound lane of traffic, and into the path of the Camaro, causing the accident.
The victim on the golf cart was identified as Roscoe Crafton, 91, of Heber Springs. Trooper Maag said it was cloudy and wet at the time of the accident.
The third fatal traffic accident was a one-vehicle accident involving a Chevy Blazer on Monday. The vehicle was eastbound on Highway 56, near Franklin in Izard County, when it left the roadway and overturned.
The victim in the accident was the driver of the Blazer, Nathaniel Geiger, 80, of Melbourne.
In his preliminary report, Trooper Jason Long with the Arkansas State Police said the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time of the accident.
