An inmate in the female section of the Stone County Jail is facing a charge of second-degree battery after an altercation with jail personnel.
The court information said Deputy Natasha Condrey and a female jailer were called to the female pod on May 22 concerning an inmate who was apparently trying to start a fight with two other inmates.
The inmate, identified as Amanda Croney, 38, was escorted out of the pod and into a holding cell. While there, Croney allegedly tried to escape through the sally port, a secure, controlled entryway to an enclosure, the court info said.
As the deputy and jail matrons tried to gain control of Croney, she fought to the point that other officers were called in, according to the arrest affidavit.
The court documents said it took two Stone County Deputies and three Mountain View Police Officers to get Croney under control, and into handcuffs.
Croney is charged with battery in the second degree, a felony. Her bond was set at $2,500.
