Through the next few weeks, Main Street Batesville will highlight local businesses with First Fridays — select dates where shopping, dining, and entertainment options will be open past 5 p.m.
Main Street Batesville, a non-profit focused on promoting the historic downtown district, is hosting the monthly event to encourage tourists and residents to support restaurants, retailers, and other establishments.
First Friday events will be held on June 4, July 2, and Aug. 6. During the events, businesses will offer limited-time discounts and deals.
“We want First Fridays to encourage people to come shop locally, eat downtown, and have some fun,” said Mandi Curtwright, Main Street Batesville’s executive director.
There will also be musicians and local artists along the sidewalks. Curtwright stated that all of the artists are from Batesville or attending Lyon College.
“The River Band” will perform during July’s First Friday event at 7:30 p.m. in the Citizens Bank Pocket Park. There is no charge for admission. Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
Participating businesses for the June 4th event include: Main Attire; Sweetie Cakes; Melba Theater; Big’s of Batesville; Stella’s Brick Oven Pizzeria; Batesville Area Arts Council; Gallery 246; Natural State Running; Autry’s White River Furniture; Home, Holidays, and More; Tomahawk Chop Company; and Main Street Nutrition.
