Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Thursday that the lack of vaccinations along with new COVID variants are driving up the number of active cases in Arkansas.
In a post on his Twitter account, the governor said Thursday was the third day with a report of greater than 380 new COVID-19 cases in the state.
He stressed vaccines are effective against the most prevalent variant in the state and are available all across Arkansas.
The Associated Press said Arkansas reported its biggest one-day jump in new coronavirus cases in more than three months on Tuesday. The Department of Health said on that day the state reported 485 new cases of COVID-19.
According to the ADH as of Friday, Stone County continues to see a large number of active cases with 73 reported. Independence County reported 64 active cases while Cleburne County had 22, Jackson had 16, and Sharp County had 10.
