Authorities say they were on the run from U.S. Marshals in relation to a murder case out of Texas.

On Thursday morning, Stone County law enforcement stopped the pursuit by taking the two into custody at a Mountain View motel.

According to a release from Stone County Chief Deputy Dammon McGilton, officers from the Stone County Sheriff’s Department, the Mountain View Police Department, and the Arkansas Community Corrections Special Response Team along with the Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 unit were called in for assistance from the U.S. Marshals around 7 a.m. Thursday when they surrounded the motel and then knocked on the door of the suspects’ room.

Taken into custody: Royce Wood (pictured below, left), 43, and Tiffany Caswell (right), 32.  Wood is accused of opening fire June 13 on two police officers from the city of Rhome, Tex. after they pulled his motorcycle over in nearby New Fairview. He was suspected in a home invasion that had occurred the day before. The officer was shot in the leg and has since been released from the hospital. Wood and Caswell are being held in the Stone County Jail on warrants out of Texas. The two are expected to be extradited back to Texas. The Mountain View Police Department is also expected to file felony charges against the two, according to the release.
