
UPDATE, July 19, 2021, 1:30 p.m.: This story has been updated with information from the Jonesboro Police Department that was not included in the original Associated Press report.
In a statement on Facebook (see below), the Jonesboro Police Department said the suspect in a July 16 shooting in the 1800 block of Highland Drive was killed in an officer-involved shooting Saturday afternoon, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson in Mississippi.
Law enforcement officers in Mississippi located the suspect, Quentin Bogard, at a motel in Canton, Miss., according to the JPD.
Mississippi authorities said Bogard barricaded himself in a room and, after a three-hour standoff, he fired upon police. Police returned fire and mortally wounded the suspect.
The victim in the Jonesboro shooting was flown to a Memphis hospital where she was treated and released.

Jonesboro man killed by police at Mississippi hotel
CANTON, Miss. (AP) — An Arkansas man has been killed by police in Mississippi after they surrounded a hotel over the weekend.
Authorities say Quentin Bogard (pictured) of Jonesboro, barricaded himself inside a room at the Relax Inn in Canton, Miss., on Saturday afternoon.
Police said that after a three-hour standoff, Bogard fired on officers, who returned fire and mortally wounded him.
Christopher Vauthan, a hotel guest who was in a room below Bogard, tells WAPT-TV that he and other guests and staff members were moved to the office area of the hotel.
There were no reported injuries among guests or employees.
