Longtime Batesville businessman and civic leader Stan Wood died early Tuesday morning.

The veteran auto dealer who followed his father, Stanley Wood, Sr., into the car business with Stanley Wood Chevrolet was 93 years old. A post on social media announced his passing.

The dealership expanded to include more GM lines such as Buick, GMC, and Cadillac, as well as the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram line of vehicles. Under the leadership of Stan and his son, Scott, the family of dealerships eventually moved from downtown to their current Batesville Boulevard locations.

We’ll update this story with Wood’s obituary when it is released.
