The Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed the deaths of two minors from COVID-19.
Little Rock’s KATV-TV, one of the state’s media outlets to first break the news, said the ADH noted one death occurred at the end of 2020 but took time to confirm while the other minor died this month.
The station also noted that Arkansas Children’s Hospital confirmed it has 11 hospitalized with the virus while some other patients are suspected to have COVID-19. According to the report, all 11 children were unvaccinated, however, the hospital said about half of those are old enough to get the shot
KATV also noted the hospitalizations at the children’s hospital are about two to three times more than they saw back in the winter months with COVID-19.
