Barbara Jean Friend, 95, of Melbourne departed this life on July 30, 2021.
The daughter of John Fred Sosebee and Pansy Violet Scott Sosebee, she was born April 26, 1926, in Monterey Park, California.
She was united in marriage to Charles Richard Friend on Oct. 17, 1942.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda M. Valentine (Jerry) of California; two grandchildren, Jerry Valentine and Gina Friend as well as close friends who loved her like family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Friend, and a son, William Friend.
Honorary pallbearers are Harold Tunnicliff and Gary Vanatter.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Oxford Cemetery with John High officiating.
