Two fatalities occurred on area roadways over the weekend.
An early morning motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Beebe man on Aug. 7.
According to the Arkansas State Police Preliminary Fatality Report, Danny Tharp, 58, was driving his motorcycle south on State Highway 11 in White County around 4 a.m. when the cycle failed to negotiate a left curve. The report noted Tharp’s motorcycle left the roadway, collided with an embankment, and caused the driver to be thrown from the motorcycle. State Trooper Robert Puckett said the roadway was dry and dark when the accident occurred.
Also on Aug. 7, state police report a Rose Bud man died in a one-vehicle truck accident in rural Cleburne County. State Trooper Gary F. Stringfellow, 62, was driving his Ford F-150 south on Highway 5 when the truck left the roadway and traveled along the roadside before striking a culvert at the Pleasant Springs Road intersection. After striking the culvert, the pickup became airborne before crossing over Pleasant Springs Road and coming to rest in the ditch.
Lawson said the accident occurred in the noon hour with clear weather and a dry roadway.
