Roland David Gilbert, 70, passed away on Aug. 14, 2021. He was born to Golden and Josephine Gilbert in Batesville, AR on March 26, 1951. Roland was the youngest of six children. He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dane Gilbert, Inez McDougal, Noel Gilbert, and Nuel Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Carol Jean (Northweather) Gilbert; brother, Doyle Gilbert; children, Kevin Gilbert and Melissa Morris; grandchildren, Matthew Holland Gilbert, Justin David Gilbert, Skylar Elizabeth Smith, Hannah Briann Cagle, Haven Hope Morris, and Timmy Boswell; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and in-laws.
Roland was a respected member of his community. He was always willing to help anyone. His guidance and assistance contributed to the development of nearly every child in the area. “Uncle Roland” was the one person that could be sought out for assistance or advice on nearly any matter.
Roland worked over forty years as a butcher and was proud of his work ethic and skills, but always found time to lend a helping hand to others. He loved working with his horses, wood, leatherwork, and farming. Roland was loved by many and touched the lives of more people than he ever realized. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Bro. Eddie Meharg will follow the visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Union Grove Cemetery.
