Emily Walton, English teacher at Batesville Charter High School, was named Monday to receive the August “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award.”

Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges.

Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 20-ounce insulated tumbler from Citizens Bank.

The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.

Stemming from her caring spirit and drive, Walton was selected by her peers for this month’s award. Her fellow staff members said:

  • “Emily is a talented, gifted person that makes sure the job is done. She is very kind with a good heart. She is a teacher leader and her room is amazing.”
  • “She shows up at all the ballgames and cares about the kids. She is well-liked and looked up to.”
  • “She is amazing already at her age. She completes all tasks on time and with a smile. Emily cares and is very respectful to the students and her workmates.”
