Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said a body found Saturday, Sept. 4, by fishermen on the White River in Izard County appears to be that of a missing kayaker.
Montgomery said the clothing, jewelry, and certain identifying markings on the body match that of Dalton Edwards, 29, of Beaumont, Tex. On Aug. 28, Edwards was kayaking with others on the river in Baxter County when he tipped over, began struggling, and then went under.
The body was recovered from the river south of Calico Rock by Izard County authorities and was sent to the state medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death and confirm the identification.
