Raymond Martinez of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at the age of 79.
He was born March 7, 1942, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Jesus and Ruth (Foster) Martinez.
Martinez worked for Norandal, and was of the Baptist belief. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing.
Martinez was Vice-President of S and J Hunting Club. He enjoyed gardening and coaching his kid’s Little League teams when they were young.
Martinez was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Phillip Martinez.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene (Becker) Martinez of the home; two sons, Craig Martinez and Jeannie Burns of Remmel, and Michael Martinez and Cheryl Whitfield of Newport; four brothers, Jessie Martinez, and wife, Paula of Morgan City, Louisiana, Frank Martinez and wife, Wanda of Iowa, Steven Martinez and wife, Roslyn of Rochelle, Illinois, and Kenny Martinez of St. Louis, Missouri; seven sisters, Barbara Martinez-Sandoval of North Carolina, Virginia Rodriguez and husband, Raymond of North Carolina, Lena King and husband, Mike, of Orangeville, Illinois, Shirley Martinez of Dixon, Illinois, Delnora Martinez of Rochelle, Illinois, and Janetta Martinez of Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren, Angel Martinez, Christina Martinez, Chariti Leann Martinez, Michael Martinez, Jr., Zena Martinex, and Elizabeth McLurg; and a lifetime of friends.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Remmel-McCall Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Cooper officiating.
