Solomon L. J. Bass IV, age 71, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, in Batesville, Arkansas. Solomon was born in Milwaukee, WI, to Mossie Lee Tayler and Bonie Bass on Feb. 3, 1950.
Solomon was a veteran of the Vietnam Era Conflict having served as Army Artillery Surveyor, and also served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. He was proud to be a member of the Stone County Honor Guard. As a veteran himself, he was sincere in giving a final farewell salute to a fellow service member.
If you knew Solomon you knew you could find him in his spare time somewhere at a fishing hole. He was an avid football fan. He was known to pull off the road in the rain to help a stranger change a flat tire or provide other assistance if need be. He gave so much of himself. He loved to mentor young people and draw out their strengths and encourage their growth. He was devoted to Stone Ground Natural Foods and visitors would always be greeted with a big smile, a joke, good service, comfort, and friendship when needed.
Solomon is survived by his wife, Janice Cavender, brother, Robert L. Taylor; sister, Rosie L. Goldsberry both of Milwaukee, WI, son, Solomon C Bass V, daughters, Lisha Bass of Minnesota, Monica Davis from Appleton, WI, Marshell (Eric) Wilson, Milwaukee, WI, Solonia Bass, Scottsdale, AZ, Therese Harris, Knoxville, TN and Mechelle Cunningham, Atlanta, GA; daughter, Shawna (Chris) Long; brothers-in-law, Clyde (Earlene) Cavender, Howard (Sandy) Cavender, Lowell (Becky) Cavender; sister-in-law, Geraldine (Chuck) Huff, granddaughter Shanice Vaughn as well as many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews too numerous to name here.
Solomon was preceded in death by his parents, sister Willola, brother Ben Bass, Ruby Bass, grandson, Mickey Davis, Mary Cavender, Kathy Cavender, and Ella Phillips.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Flatwoods Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas. Services will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Joel Breeding officiating. Pallbearers are Solomon Bass V, Curtis Malone, Dylan Highfill, Casey Maricle, Aaron Maricle, Alyssa Konkler. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Long, Ryan Farris, Sawyer Boyd, and the Stone County Honor Guard,
Burial will be in Flatwoods Cemetery.
