Devoe Simpson, 85, of Southside, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2021.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1936, in Strawberry, Arkansas to Cletus Simpson and Lavinia Alice (Massey) Simpson.
Devoe was a member of Desha First Baptist Church. He retired from Pontiac Motors. Devoe enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling, and listening to bluegrass music. He also enjoyed woodworking and fixing things; he even built his family home in Southside with help from his nephew, Mike Simpson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Maxine (Asberry) Simpson, and daughter, Nita Simpson of the home; daughter, Cheryl Jacobsen (Keith) of Clawson, Michigan; one brother, Lon Simpson (Billie) of Mtn. Home; one sister, Linda Serafin (Dan) of Troy, Michigan; and one grandchild, Steven Jacobsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Dale Simpson and Denzil Simpson.
Pallbearers are Cledas Manuel, Brad Moody, Joey Simpson, Sherman Dale Simpson, Dan Serafin, and Keith Jacobsen. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Walls, Max Edwards, Larry Asberry, Steven Jacobsen, Gentry Moody, and Lynn Simpson.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at Desha First Baptist Church under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville with Troy Sharp and Josh Swinea officiating. Burial will follow at Alderbrook Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday just prior to service at the church.
