The Highland School District is requiring masks for students and staff after the district said it has moved into the “High Risk” category for known COVID-19 infections.

According to data from ACHI (Arkansas Center for Health Improvement), the district had a total of 167 cases from both students and staff between Aug. 1 and Nov. 4. As of the latter date, there were 21 active cases. One new case was reported on the district’s Facebook page on Sunday.

ACHI provides information to policymakers, school personnel, and parents across the state about COVID-19 in their communities. Masks are required at Highland Schools when the district reaches the “High Risk” category, according to the district’s mask advisory policy. (Visit the ACHI website here.)

In a social media post, the Highland School District said:

The Highland District will begin requiring masks for all students and staff starting on Monday, November 8, 2021, until further notice. We will continue to monitor the Covid 19 situation within our district. We greatly appreciate the understanding and support from the Highland School District community.
