The Batesville Junior High School has been approved by the Charter Authorizing Panel and the Arkansas Board of Education for the conversion charter junior high beginning in 2022-2023. The newly established charter will focus on early career exploration and creating Personal Pioneer Pathways. These Pioneer Pathways put students first every day by developing well-rounded students to succeed in the world of today and tomorrow, the Batesville School District said in a release announcing the approval.
A focus on the whole child will better prepare students academically, socially, and emotionally. The district said Pioneer Pathways will offer students the opportunity to explore their future through science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), digital media, and medical pathways that will help students transition to Batesville Charter High School Pioneer Academies.
Batesville Junior High School (BJHS) charter will focus on academic excellence by providing students the opportunity to explore introductory electives that connect to Batesville Charter High School Pioneer Academies. BJHS will accomplish this by embedding courses into existing classes to allow students access to other electives they could not previously experience while also offering more opportunities for students to begin earning more high school credits in 8th grade, according to the release.
The conversion charter model will offer programs like, Leader in Me, that will be implemented campus-wide to create a culture of trust and engagement while empowering students to lead their own lives through making a difference in others. Through the district community schools model, additional services to meet the physical and emotional needs of students will be offered. Cyber safety and life skill courses will be embedded and offered to all students throughout their academic careers at Batesville Junior High. According to the district, this will include an experience in the Principal’s Council that will give students a voice in their educational experiences.
Through this new charter model, BJHS school will provide an exceptional educational experience for our students, the release noted.
