A procession of law enforcement officers escorted the body of Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Ramirez back to Batesville this afternoon.
Ramirez died in the line of duty after a one-vehicle accident early Thursday morning on State Highway 14.
According to the Arkansas State Police, Ramirez’s Dodge Charger left the highway while traversing a curve. The weather and road conditions were rainy and wet, according to the state police report.
The body of Ramirez was escorted by law enforcement from the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock.
