Doyne “Dobie” Finney, 82 of Batesville passed away Friday, December 3, 2021. He was born November 30, 1939, in the Hutchinson Mountain Community to Hugh and Arlene (Barber) Finney. He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served as a military policeman. He was an avid hunter and loved to coon hunt and participated in many coon hunting competitions. He was an exceptional poker player, often competing in and winning large tournaments. He enjoyed nothing more than traveling with his family and had been to all 50 states and visited most of the national parks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte Finney; one brother, Ray Dell Finney and one sister, Bervallene Finney.
Survivors include one son, Jason Finney (Mark) of Little Rock; two daughters, Stacey Lindsey (Elbert) of Batesville and Beth Finney of Little Rock; one sister, Daphine Platt of Batesville; three grandchildren, Will Tanner Lindsey, Elley Lindsey and Caleb Finney; a niece, Sonya Platt; sister-in-law, Dorothy Winters; dear family friend, Margo Baker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial services will be held Sunday, December 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the Palestine Cemetery in the Hutchinson Mountain Community. Arrangements are by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
