An 18-year-old male is facing felony rape counts following an investigation by Izard County authorities.

Seth Austin Mitchell was arrested last week after being charged with five counts of Class Y felony rape, according to a release from the Izard County Sheriff’s Department.

Class Y felonies are the most serious in Arkansas not punishable by death, carrying severe penalties in terms of prison time and fine amounts.

Information from Izard County Circuit Court noted a bench warrant for Mitchell was issued Dec. 4.

On Tuesday, Mountain Home radio station KTLO reported Mitchell was arrested in Cross County Friday, Dec. 10, following an investigation by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Jack Yancey told the radio station the investigation was initiated after the parents of the victim, a minor, contacted authorities. The station noted the alleged incidents occurred during a period between September and November. (Click here for the KTLO story.)

Mitchell’s bond was set at $100,000.
