Nola Laverne Cathey, 87, of Newport departed this life on Sunday, December 19, 2021. She was born September 15, 1934, to James Oliver and Effie Jane (St. John) Collom.
Nola was a member of White River Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and was known for the Sunday meals she prepared for her family. Her other great joy in life was her grandchildren; she loved spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Cathey; her daughter, baby girl Cathey; her son, James Edmond Cathey; her daughter, Lisa Mitchell; her brothers, Orvie Collom and Roger Collom; and her sister, Letha Riley.
She is survived by her son, Greg Cathey of Oil Trough; her daughter, Cindy Cathey (Jim Ray) of Oil Trough; a special niece, Carrie Riley; a special nephew, Tim Riley; her grandchildren; Matt Cathey, Jesse Williford, Haley Cathey (Lynn), Cameron Cathey, Allen Cathey (Mary), Bradley Cathey, Kyla Ritter (Jeffery); great-grandchildren; Piper Lance, Mason Lance, Kayden Cathey, Spencer Cathey; and a host of family and friends.
Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Dillinger Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Interment will be at Maple Springs Cemetery.
