Two people have been discovered deceased in the cockpit of a plane that crashed last night near the Fulton and Sharp County line.
Content partner Region 8 News says Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork said the bodies were removed from the wreckage earlier today.
According to Hallmark Times, the plane was seeking an airport and had run out of fuel based on a recording from the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane was believed to have been traveling from the Memphis area with two occupants according to the Times, however, no names, flight path, or details of the type of plane have been released at this time.
One witness told authorities seeing the plane flying low and clipping treetops.
Authorities discovered the plane Monday morning on Nine Mile Ridge Road after fog hampered the search overnight.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the crash, according to Hallmark Times.

UPDATE, 9:30 a.m.: The Spring River Chronicle is reporting on its social media that the plane wreckage has been located. Details are not yet available.

Multiple first responders are searching an area near the Sharp and Fulton County line for a plane that reportedly crashed Sunday evening.
Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork said crews have not been able to locate the wreckage because of fog and nightfall, but witnesses reported the plane went down near Nine Mile Ridge Road and Slick Rock Road in rural Sharp County.
According to the Spring River Chronicle, the plane is believed to have been heard going down by witnesses who saw it flying low and skimming tree tops.
Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts said multiple agencies are responding. He did not know the type of plane that crashed or details about those who were on board. A reporter at the scene saw several search and rescue crews along Nine Mile Ridge Road.
A cause of the crash is not known at this time, but Sheriff Counts said there was heavy fog throughout the area.
