David L. Coleman, 84 of Southside passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021. He was born September 12, 1937, in Blytheville, Arkansas to David L. and Geneva L. Morrow Coleman. He was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran having earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Lee Coleman and brothers-in-law, Leon Carter and Stillman Orick.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Blackwood Coleman of the home; one son, David Michael “Mike” Coleman (Mary) of Bonne Terre, Missouri; one daughter, Teresa Gourley (Roth) of Farmington, Missouri (formerly of Rogers); one stepson, Brett Barnes (Mandolin) of Spokane, Washington; one stepdaughter, Candice Thompson (Matt) of Portland, Oregon; four sisters, Ruth Orick, Velma Shewbuirt (Dalton), Freda Carter and Jeanette Williams (Johnny) all of Paragould; five grandchildren, Jeremy Coleman (Joni) of Farmington, Missouri, Amie Coleman (Bryan) of Holts Summit, Missouri, Blake Barnes and John Bradley Barnes both of Spokane, Washington and Slaten Thompson of Portland, Oregon; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Coleman and Dylan Coleman both of Farmington, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas, located east of Cherry Valley. Arrangements are by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
