The Stone County Coroner has announced his candidacy in the 2022 Republican primary.

Joseph A. Blake (pictured)  successfully ran for the office four years ago, becoming the youngest coroner in the state to ever be elected, he said.

A Stone County native, Blake is a 2015 graduate of Mountain View High School and has been employed at the Mountain View Funeral Service as a funeral director for the past five years. Through the Arkansas Coroner’s Association, Blake has become a certified county coroner.

Blake said it is his job as coroner to determine the cause and manner of death, and he will continue to request autopsies if there is any question in his mind about what occurred. He said that way family members can have complete confidence in his ruling.

He also pledged to have four deputy coroners to ensure prompt responses whenever there is a need.

Blake has been married to Skyler Smith Blake for five years, and they are the parents of one child, Canaan Olivia Blake.

For the last four years, Blake has been the pastor of Grace Fellowship Church of God and a volunteer firefighter.
