Ugly, but effective as the Lady Southerners picked up their 15th win and move to 4-0 in conference play with 46-37 win over the Westside Lady Warriors Tuesday night.
Both teams struggled from the field in the first half with the Southerners shooting 29 percent from the field, and trailed 21-18.
The second half told a different story as the Southerners pounded the ball inside to Kamie Jenkins and that pushed the Southerners to a 32-30 lead at the end of the third.
Olivia Allen handled the pressure from the Warriors at point guard, as Brett Gardener was out for the night and Jenkins dominated the boards with 13 rebounds, holding the Warriors to one shot on most of their possessions.
The Southerners shot 63 percent in the second half. Olivia Allen led the Southerners with 19 points, and Kamie Jenkins gets another double/double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
