The Mountain View Yellowjackets picked up a pair of conference victories Thursday night on the road at Clinton High School.
In the first game, the Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets rallied from 12 points down midway through the second quarter to take a 33-32 lead going into the fourth quarter on a basket by Rylee Shipman.
In the fourth quarter, Clinton would build a four-point lead with 47 seconds to play in the game, but Josie Storey would drive the basket, score, and get fouled, she would convert the free throw to cut Clinton’s lead to 42-41 with 23 seconds to play. After a missed Clinton free throw and a time out, Mountain View would get the ball with 18 seconds to go and Kennedy Holland would hit a game winner on a rebound and put back to give Mountain View a 43-42 victory over their conference rival.
Storey led Mountain View with 27 points, Shipman added 8 points, Holland had 4 points, and 14 rebounds. Kylie Lasater led Clinton with 18 points. Mountain View improved to 8-0 in conference play and 11-4 overall on the season, while Clinton dropped to 15-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
The Mountain View Yellowjackets completed a sweep of Clinton in the conference season with a 52-39 victory. Clinton had an early 6-2 advantage, but Mountain View would close the first quarter on a 9-1 run and never trailed again.
Beck Morrow led Mountain View with 14 points, Jayden Scroggins added 12 points on 4 three pointers, Elijah Carlton recorded 10 points, and 11 rebounds, while Camyn Vickers added 9 points, and Sam Fletcher 5 points.
Brody Emberton led Clinton with 15 points, and Zane Widener added 13 points. Mountain View improved to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in conference, while Clinton dropped to 2-10 overall and 1-5 in conference.
