Obituary: Thelma Maxine (Thomas) Carlton

Thelma Maxine (Thomas) Carlton, 76 of Prim, Arkansas passed away on January 25, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Max was born on October 17, 1945, in Hanover, Arkansas to Ulysses and Nola (Evans) Thomas who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Winne Blackwell and Lonnie Thomas.

She was saved at a young age and was a faithful example of a true Christian. She attended Hilltop Holiness Church until her physical limitations prevented her from attending in person, but her desire to be in church never left. However, she enjoyed the many visits from her church family.

Her greatest joy in life was her family and she was “Ma” to many others. She was known for her wonderful home-cooking and her sweet demeanor, you never saw her without a smile on her face. To know her was to love her.

She is survived by her four children; Angie (Joey) Holland of Fox, Russ (Tina) Carlton of Hot Springs, Shelly Baxter of Prim, and Autumn (Ritchie) Smith of Drasco, ten grandchildren; Tyler (Whitney) Holland, Emily (Bryce) Knapp, Erika (Dustin) Caston, Nicole Carlton, Ethan Carlton, Kallie Cash, Jordan, Sheldon and Allison Baxter, and Easton Smith; ten great-grandchildren Harper and Hayes Holland, Collin, Myla, and Milly Maxine Knapp, Josie, Blakely and Carbin Caston, and Rosie and Luna Carlton; ten siblings, J.B. (Pat) Thomas, Janis Sue Sisk, Kathy (Kenneth) Pannell, Dale (Greg) Stephens, Richard Thomas, Danny (Alice) Thomas, Debra (Junior) Sartin, Lesa Sullins, Kelvin (Mary) Thomas, and Joyce (Stan) Sweat. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to her niece Karla (Mike) Gruber who helped make it possible for her to spend her last two years in her home as she desired.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hilltop Holiness Church in Prim, Arkansas. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. also at Hilltop Holiness Church with Bro. Davin Burnett, Bro. Devin Birdsong, and Bro. Dennis Knapp officiating the service. Interment will take place at Everett Cemetery in Prim, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Tyler, Holland, Ethan Carlton, Jordan Baxter, Sheldon Baxter, Easton Smith, Bryce Knapp, Dustin Caston, John “Bo” Cowan and Mike Gruber.

Honorary pallbearers are Dallas Crabtree and Tim Tidwell.
