According to collections for the one-cent countywide sales tax in Independence County, the local economy is doing quite well.
County Treasurer Bob Treadway will present a report on those collections during Monday’s scheduled meeting of the Independence County Quorum Court.
According to Treadway, collections for the January 2022 report are 6.34 percent higher than 2021’s figures. In fact, the January `22 numbers are the most-ever collected by more than $5,000. Total January 2022 collections were $321,906.95. UACCB and fire department sales tax collections each brought $159,585.48.
The January 2022 report is for sales in November 2021 collected and sent to the state in December 2021. The county’s share returned in January.
