With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Betty Dossett Ewell, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all.  She was born on September 18, 1934, in Floral, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Oah Dossett and Winnie Tatum Dossett. Betty passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the hearts of all she came across, who even now are being changed by her witness of nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of a loving spirit, shown through her constant smiling, and ease in frequent conversations, with even total strangers, will never be forgotten.  Betty was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was.  Betty enjoyed buying and selling real estate, gardening, cooking, old-time music, playing cards, sewing/crafting, decorating her home, shopping, the gathering of family and friends, but her greatest pleasure might have been her morning cup of coffee with three hostess donuts.  Next to her beloved family, her faith was the most important thing to her. Her main focus that she voiced recently was that she hoped that all generations of her family would know Christ as their Savior.   Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

She leaves behind a family she was fiercely proud of; her daughter, Stephanie and husband, Gene May, two beloved granddaughters, Brittni Neville and Lauren May, and two great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Van Watkins and Jaxton Liam Johnston; a niece, Michelle and her husband Jerry Reesor, their children, Clint Reesor and his wife Whitney, and their son Elliot. Cameron Reesor and his wife Hannah, and their daughter, Opal Jane; a nephew, James Dossett and his wife Pam, and their daughters, Madlyn, Allison and Samantha; a niece, Amanda and her husband James Teague, and their children Caleb and Carley; a niece, Sandra Dossett, and her daughters, Jordin Dossett and Ashlyn and her husband Jason Spouse, and their children, Vanna and Corrie; a friend, that she thought of as a daughter, Amber and her husband Cody Parker, and their children, Ella, Max, and Luc; a friend, that she thought of as a granddaughter, Sara Sellnow; along with too many more to mention.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oah and Winnie Dossett. her Brother, Gary Van Dossett Sr. and his wife Patsy. Her Nephew, Gary Van Dossett Jr. and her beloved Grandson, Joey Van Watkins.

All who loved her dearly and will never forget her grace and undying love. She truly was a best friend. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at home with the Lord. Her memory will be carried on in the legacy of love which is now in each of us – the lives she formed and touched by her love.

The celebration of life service will be at Qualls Batesville Funeral Service on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Daryl Sellers and Bro. Jason Sprouse officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Floral, Arkansas.
