Beth Winberry (pictured above, left, with Ashley Engles of Citizens Bank), media specialist at Batesville Junior High School, was named Monday to receive the February “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award.”
Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges.
Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 20-ounce insulated tumbler from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.
Winberry has a priority of boosting students’ interest in reading, the bank said in a media release. Her peers notice the things that she does behind the scenes to make the library a great place to be. They said:
“Mrs. Winberry does so much for our school! Dealing with Chromebooks is a massive responsibility, on top of everything else she does. She tries to engage the students in reading and always has fun things going on to increase their interest in reading. She puts her own time in, as well, often staying late to get things done. She is an amazing person, friend, mentor, and a huge asset to our campus. I love Mrs. Winberry!”
“Beth goes above and beyond every single day; she does so much work for everyone at BJHS. She deals with Chromebook issues: repairing them, resetting passwords, power washing, etc. In addition, Beth is still able to have classes come to the library to check out books. She works late almost every day in order to help the students and staff. There are so many things Beth does that make our school run more smoothly that no one even notices. She deserves this award as a small token of appreciation for all she does.”
“Mrs. Winberry invests a lot of time in making sure that all of our students have the things they need to be successful. She works very hard to make sure that English classes get time in the library, even with the constant disruptions to our schedule. She goes above and beyond to make sure that our students have opportunities to participate in things like the county spelling bee. I know she works late almost every day to make sure that the library is clean, organized, and available to every student.”
