Hazel Marie Asher, 78 of Weiner departed this life on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at St. Bernard Medical Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on September 5, 1943, in Harrisburg, Arkansas the daughter of J. C. and Dorothy Ann (Meyers) Vest.
Her parents both preceded her in death, and step-mother, Ann Vest, one brother, Floyd Vest, two sisters: Sharon Tucker and Rachel Vest, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker, of the Baptist belief, loved Crossword puzzles, collecting John Wayne and Elvis Presley memorabilia, and collecting dolls. She married James Asher on October 10, 1978, and they have enjoyed 44 years of marriage.
She is survived by her husband, James Asher of the home in Weiner, two sons: Bobby (Tony) Asher of Mentone, Indiana and Jimmy Asher of Joplin, Missouri, four daughters: Marie (Eddie) Wortham of Pitts, Arkansas, Linda Asher of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Merica (Paul) Crowl of Joplin, Missouri, and Katy (Todd) Johnston of Gentry, Arkansas, four brothers: James (Cathy) Vest of Trumann, Arkansas, Joe Seacrest of Nappanee, Indiana, PeeWee Vest of Webster, Indiana, Charles Vest of Warsaw, Indiana, three sisters: Brenda Rodgers of Mountain View, Arkansas, Janie Wilson of Ocala, Florida, Barb Berry of Goshen, Indiana, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from noon until Service Time Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Arkansas.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p. m. with the interment at Bolivar cemetery. Grandkids will serve as active pallbearers and Bro. Eddie Brooks, Pastor of Cross Chapel Baptist Church Harrisburg will conduct the service.
