Lyon’s Stewart-Lange named Coach of the Year

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the members of the 2021-22 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team and season award winners.

All awards are voted on by the 10 coaches in the conference.

All stats are prior to the AMC Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship game that was played on February 28, 2022.

Grace Beyer of the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy was named the Player of the Year after leading the NAIA and the AMC in scoring by a wide margin, posting 32.9 points per game. Additionally, she was second in the conference in assists per game (4.2), 10th in steals per game (1.7), and 14th in rebounds per game (6.0).

Williams Baptist senior Taylor Freeman earned Defensive Player of the Year after a phenomenal 2021-22 season that saw her post a conference-high 98 steals over 27 games (3.6 STL/G).

The Freshman of the Year award went to William Woods forward Sydney Booker. Booker was outstanding for the Owls all season, averaging 8.7 rebounds per game (fourth in AMC) and 11.5 points (13th in AMC).

The conference’s top rebounder, Aminata Seck from Central Baptist, was awarded the Newcomer of the Year after posting a strong first season with the Mustangs. Seck led the AMC in rebounds per game (10.4) while also posting 15.2 points per game (sixth in AMC) and 1.2 blocks per game (third in AMC).
