
The Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets punched their ticket to the Class 3A state basketball tournament, and advanced to the semifinals of the Regional Tournament at Rose Bud High School with a 56-34 victory over the Corning Lady Bobcats.
The Lady ‘Jackets opened the game with a 16-0 run as Corning did not get their first points till :56 left in the first quarter. Rylee Shipman scored 8 points during the run. Mountain View increased the lead to 27-5 midway through the second quarter before Corning closed the gap to 29-12 at halftime.
Corning cut the lead to 35-21 with 3:24 to go in the third quarter before Mountain View went on a 13-1 run to end the third quarter and take a 48-22 lead into the final quarter of play. In that run Avery Sullivan, Ellie Akins, and Josie Storey each had a three pointer, Storey and Kennedy Holland each had a two pointer. In the final quarter Corning had a late 8-0 rally but could not cut the Mountain View lead within 20 points as Mountain View advances with a 56-34 victory.
Storey led the way with 19 points, Holland had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists, Shipman added eight points, Harley Avey five points, and Emry Johnson had eight rebounds, and five blocked shots. Mountain View improved to 19-7 overall on the season, and will play the Pangburn Lady Tigers on Monday afternoon at 4:00 in the Regional Tournament semifinals at Rose Bud High School.
