Lady Yellowjackets wrap up season

The Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets season came to an end in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament with a 67-51 loss to the Valley Springs Lady Tigers.

Leading 33-27 at halftime, Valley Springs outscored Mountain View 19-10 in the third quarter to lead 52-37 going into the fourth quarter. Mountain View cut the lead to 10 but could not get any closer, as the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Yellowjackets and ended their season for the second consecutive season.

Josie Storey led Mountain View with 37 points and eight rebounds, Emry Johnson added seven points, Kennedy Holland four points and eight rebounds as Mountain View season ended with a 20-9 record.

Tuesday afternoon, March 1, the Lady Yellowjackets finished the 3A-2 regional tournament at Rose Bud High School with a 55-43 victory over the Hoxie Lady Mustangs.
Trailing 8-2 after the first quarter, Mountain View outscored Hoxie 31-15 over the next two quarters to take a 33-23 lead to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, Mountain View hit 12-14 free throws to secure the victory 55-43.
Josie Storey led the offense with 20 points, Kennedy Holland had 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Emry Johnson had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Yellowjackets as they improve to 20-8 on the season.  Hoxie was led by Jaecie Brown with 27 points, Chloe Prater added 9 points for the Lady Mustangs as they fall to 19-11 on the season.
