Posie C. (Harris) Churchwell, 96, of Jonesboro departed this life on Saturday ~ March 5, 2022, at her home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on July 1, 1925, in Harrisburg, Arkansas the daughter of Cleveland C. and Bertha Mae (Workman) Harris.
She married John Carroll Churchwell on July 18, 1942, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage until John’s passing on April 22, 2006.
Her parents preceded her in death and she was also preceded by four brothers: B. F. Harris, Dewey Harris, C. J. Harris, and Ralph Harris, three sisters: Wilma Allene Page, Evelyn Muse, and Madge Self.
She is a member of Windover Baptist Church in Jonesboro and truly enjoys spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters: Carol (Bob) Simpson of Gepp, Arkansas, Diane Young of Hornersville, Missouri, and Paula Knight of Fayetteville, Arkansas, one brother, Thurman Harris of Bentonville, Arkansas, one sister, Norma Sue Darr of Jonesboro, five grandchildren: Karen Webb, LaDonne Westmoreland, Dustin Young, Vaughn Knight, and Mark Knight, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She had special people in her life, two aides: Janelle Newsom and Donna Waggoner and a friend to her and John, Barry Rogers.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 until service time with funeral service time Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Brian Beach, Pastor of Windover Baptist Church in Jonesboro will conduct the service and these men will serve as pallbearers: Vaughn Knight, Mark Knight, Dustin Young, Kevin Darr, Kenneth Knight, and Jimmy Page. Interment will be in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.
