A volatile situation Wednesday in Stone County was handled by a task force led by the Stone County Sheriff’s Department
Deputies from the department along with officers from 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Mountain View Police Department, and the Arkansas Department of Corrections North Central K-9 Unit went to a Ticer Lane residence in Fox to execute a search warrant and federal arrest warrant for Richard Joe Lee, 36 (pictured below).
Authorities were told Lee had been staying at the residence and that the home’s owner had numerous firearms in the residence
In a media release, Chief Deputy Sheriff Dammon McGilton said Lee was wanted by the U. S. Marshals Service for violating conditions of federal probation and by Johnson County officials for probation violations and absconding.
When authorities called for Lee to come out and surrender to the warrants, Lee allegedly refused and then barricaded himself inside the residence, the release said.
Through crisis intervention techniques used by McGilton and Officer Russell Gilbert, Lee gave up after five hours of negotiation and surrendered to authorities.
Lee was later placed in custody by the U. S. Marshals Service and taken to a holding facility.
McGilton said the incident is still under investigation.
Sheriff Lance Bond and Chief McGilton thanked all who were involved in keeping the incident under control and enabling it to go as smoothly as possible.
