Obituary: Betty Taylor

Betty June Butler Taylor, 68 passed away at her home on March 10, 2022. She was born January 1, 1954, to the late James “Bud” Butler and Gracie (Hix) Butler.

Betty grew up in the Gainesboro area and was a graduate of Sulphur Rock High School and of the Baptist faith.

Betty worked as a truck driver for many years and loved being out on the road seeing the country. She always had a great lifetime love for reading and proudly read every single book in the school library by the time she graduated, including the encyclopedias. Betty loved yard sales, bingo, her cat Punky, and her great cooking skills were loved by all of her family and friends. Betty had a strong personality but beneath her toughness, there was a kind heart.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Butler (Mandy) of Rosie; daughter-in-law Amanda Holley, also of Rosie; brother James Robert Butler Jr., a sister, Mary Ann Butler, and Uncle Malcom Hix Jr. all of Gainesboro. Grandchildren Whitley Jade Serrano (Rammil), Rachel Ann McRae (Collin), Kyleigh Nichole Tribble, Lacey Lane Butler, Madalyn Rose Holder, and Daniel Dawson Holder; great-grandchildren, Jaydan Malik Serrano, Rynn Loriann McRae, Titus Lee Pettit, and Christopher Noah Tribble; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Dohnny Holley, and sister, Barbara Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service.
