A Hardy man was arrested Monday after a pursuit that began in Izard County, according to a release from Sharp County Chief Deputy Sheriff Aaron Presser.
According to the release, an Izard County deputy attempted to stop a Mitsubishi Eclipse on Highway 56 near the Sharp/Izard county line on March 14. When the vehicle allegedly fled from the deputy, fellow Izard County deputies along with officers from the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force were eventually able to stop it in Sharp County and attempt to arrest the driver.
The release said the driver, identified as Aaron Slayton, 38, of Hardy, resisted arrest but was ultimately placed into custody.
Presser said in the release that officers located approximately six ounces of methamphetamine, $5,595 in U.S. currency, several unidentified pills, and various items of drug paraphernalia on or about Slayton.
Slayton was transported to the Sharp County Jail and is awaiting the filing of formal charges for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver; possession of Oxycodone with the intent to deliver; possession of drug paraphernalia; resisting arrest; destruction of evidence; and fleeing.
The release noted Izard County will have charges on Slayton as well.
