Thyra Lynn (Futrell) Sullivan, 81, peacefully passed away on April 12, 2022, at her home in Mountain View, Arkansas.
She was born to Clare Guy and Floy Hazel (Karnes) Futrell on February 15, 1941, in Vanndale, Arkansas where she also graduated high school. Lynn was married to Thomas (Tommy) H. Sullivan on August 29, 1994, in Helena, Arkansas.
Lynn was known for many things, but the thing she was most famous for was her welcoming warmth. If you ever met her, you were instantly loved and welcomed into her life. She was known on her street in Mountain View for inviting people over and creating space to be with friends. Her witty personality made many people laugh while her thoughtfulness reminded people of their worth. She always wanted you to know you were important to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Futrell; her sister, Willa Dean Wilkison; and her brother-in-law, Paul Bower.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy; her siblings, Sharon Bower and Kenneth (Glenda) Futrell; her sister-in-law Margaret Futrell; her children, Renee (Keith) Hess-Coffey, Cindy (Jim Thwing) Hess, Samantha Hess, and Sara (Greg) Colvin; her step-children, Patrick (Laura) Sullivan and Shane Sullivan; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne, Arkansas on Monday, April 18, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Crosslawn Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the services at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Parish Hall.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chuck Futrell, Ken Futrell, Jr., Jeff Gahr, Michael Hess, John Silva, and Patrick Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in remembrance of Lynn’s avid love of reading.
