Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill says the investigation of the Friday afternoon robbery at the Citizens Bank main branch on St. Louis Street is getting an all-out effort from his department.
Cockrill told White River Now’s Gary Bridgman on Monday that every available officer is working on some aspect of the case.
Employees of the bank were in the process of filling the bank’s outside ATM machine around 1:15 p.m. Friday when two men grabbed the three boxes of cash and fled in a dark Chevrolet sedan. (The suspect’s vehicle is pictured below in an image provided by the Batesville Police Department.)
Although the suspects were not armed, Cockrill described the threatening nature of the robbery as a “strong-armed” robbery.
The chief said a short time after the robbery, a vehicle matching the description of the Chevrolet was pursued by deputies from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department. During the pursuit, Cockrill said the suspects turned off on county roads and evaded authorities.
The chief said he has not had a report of anyone seeing the vehicle since Friday afternoon.
