The recent Red Hot Ladies Luncheon raised its largest donation to date ($15,000) to support the work of New Hope Refuge of Independence County. Last week, representatives of the Red Hot Committee — Joyce Prickett, Kay Southerland, Ashley Engles, and Paula Terrell — presented a check to New Hope Refuge’s Miranda Childers. Pictured above are (from left) Prickett, Southerland, Childers, Engles, and Terrell.

New Hope Refuge is a faith-based and Christ-centered program for women 19 years of age and older who are struggling with substance abuse issues.

The Red Hot Ladies Luncheon was held Friday, April 8, in Independence Hall on the campus of the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. The annual luncheon serves to raise awareness about issues impacting the lives of women and inspire them to make positive changes and commit to a healthy lifestyle.

Since its inception as “The Go Red for Women” luncheon in 2006, this series of popular ladies’ events has raised approximately $140,000 for various non-profit organizations that serve the health-related needs of women and their families in Batesville, Independence County, and the surrounding communities. Citizens Bank was the event’s Ruby Sponsor again this year, marking its 16th year of involvement.
