On Senior Day for the Lyon College Scots softball team, fifth-year senior center fielder Addison Harmon went out with a bang, hitting two home runs over the scoreboard at Howard and Mary House Field in Batesville on Saturday afternoon in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader against the William Woods Owls.
The Scots, 12-22 and 10-8 in the American Midwest Conference standings, finished out the 2022 regular season with a split decision against the Owls, losing 12-4 and winning the last game 12-2.
The Scots seniors led the way Harmon homered in the third inning to left field and hit the walk-off three-run homer to end the second game. She also tied the Lyon College record for most stolen bases in her career with 90.
Kassidy Robinson had a home run in the first game and Jasmine Carlos doubled twice off the outfield fence to score two runs. Celsey Wood doubled to center field to bring in Megan Englehardt in the first game to give the Scots a 1-0 le
William Woods hit a grand slam in the top of the third inning to go up 5-1, but Harmon hit her solo homer over the scoreboard in left field to cut the lead to three.
The Owls added two more runs in the fourth inning to lead 7-2, then put up four runs in the fifth inning to lead 12-2.
The Scots got a solo homer to right field by MK Duffield and Robinson followed that with a solo shot to left field. It was the first time this season that Lyon College has had hit back-to-back home runs.
In the second game, Duffield hit a sacrifice grounder that scored Harmon in the first inning, the Georgia Holzer doubled to center field to bring in Robinson and Englehardt. Carlos followed that with a double off the centerfield wall to score Holzer for a 4-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning, Robinson singled in Wood, Emily Martinez walked with the bases loaded to score Duffield, Trinity Arrambide reached on a fielder’s choice to bring in Robinson and Harmon reached on an error that Carlos scored on to make it an 8-1 Scots lead.
Carlos doubled to left field to score Holzer. Arrambide got on base and Harmon hit a walk-off three-run homer to end the game.
Holzer picked up the win for the Scots.
Next up for the Scots is the American Midwest Conference tournament in two weeks at Columbia, Mo.
