Carter to join Citizens Bank Board of Directors

The chief investment officer at a Little Rock commercial contracting, development, and property management company will join the Citizens Bank Board of Directors.

The Batesville-based financial institution said in a release on Tuesday that John Carter (pictured), the CIO of Huffman & Co., will be joining Citizens Bank’s leadership team.

“John fits our culture perfectly,” said Adam Mitchell, CEO and president at Citizens Bank. “He is highly respected in the banking industry, and Citizens Bank will, no doubt, benefit from his expertise.”

In his role with Huffman & Co., Carter is responsible for strategic capital investment direction and executive vision for Huffman Contractors, Huffman Development Co., and Estage Property Management Company.

“I am really looking forward to John joining our leadership team,” said Jeff Teague, chairman and CEO of Citizens Bancshares. “It is an exciting time for us as we continue to grow with the guidance of an outstanding board, setting up the bank for continued success.”

Prior to joining Huffman & Co., Carter held several leadership positions at Bank OZK, with chief credit officer as his latest position. His expertise in banking and real estate will be a valuable asset to Citizens Bank, the release said.

“It is an honor to be joining this progressive leadership team,” said Carter. “The current board is highly respected in the community and I look forward to helping propel the mission of Citizens Bank forward.”

Carter attended Arkansas Tech University with a baseball scholarship and earned his undergraduate degree in 2002. He later received his Master of Arts, Master of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2005. He serves on the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas and has served on the boards of Arkansas Tech University Business School Advisory Board, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, and the Arthritis Foundation.

He and his wife, Erin, reside in Little Rock. They have two children, Ashley, 13, and Jayce, 11.
