The Mountain View Iris Festival is coming this Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7.
The volunteers are doing their best to organize, itemize, and provide the best customer service possible to Iris Festival visitors.
The irises are trying to escape from their pots since planted last fall. They look beautiful, and organizers know attendees will be pleased with so many varieties.
Festival hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. during the day. In the evening, music entertainment begin will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The Mountain View Iris Festival is great fun to attend. Meet and greet family, friends, and new visitors to the community! We are blessed with natural beauty in the Ozarks, lots of beautiful iris blooms, music, friendly people, and great shopping.
Attendees can make the Welcome Center on the courthouse lawn at the southeast corner (the gazebo) their first stop to pick up an Iris Festival program. The program will include event details and information.
Friday night entertainment will be “Crazy Ray and Wolfjaw” performing on the courthouse stage at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. On Saturday night, there will be a street dance featuring the Dixon Street Band beginning at 7 p.m. on the street west of the courthouse. (If it’s raining, the concerts will be moved to the large building at the Stone County Fairgrounds.)
The Carousel Organ Association of America will return to play the “Happiest Music on Earth” both Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Corvettes from across the state will be parked on the street, west of the courthouse Saturday morning. Children will be painting irises at the courthouse (materials provided) on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
The Mountain View Iris Society will host an iris show on Saturday at Mi Pueblito restaurant from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate in the iris show and photo contest. It is set up for the public’s viewing pleasure. (Visit mountainviewirisfest.com for details on the photo contest.)
