Batesville man dies after vehicle accident on St. Louis St.

A Batesville man was killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Arkansas Highway 167, just north of Batesville.

The victim was 27-year-old Jordan Childress, according to the Arkansas State Police preliminary investigative report.

The report said Childress was driving a 2014 Dodge north on Highway 167 (St. Louis Street) when his vehicle encountered standing water in the northbound lane and began to hydroplane, rotating counter-clockwise into oncoming traffic where the Dodge struck a 2002 Ford traveling southbound on the highway.

Childress was transported to the White River Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

The report said the roadway was wet from rainfall at the time of the accident which was listed as 5:24 p.m.
