Gary Merrill King 1950-2022
Gary Merrill King of Jonesboro, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the age of 71. He was born October 20, 1950, in Swifton, the son of Ray Monroe and Erma Lee (Hulen) King.
King was a 1968 graduate of Swifton High School, and a member of First Methodist Church of Jonesboro. He was retired from Frito-Lay. Mr. King enjoyed gardening, collecting coins, and his dogs. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
King was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Troy Lee King; two sisters, Martha Sue Holman and Anna Shelton; and one nephew, Brandon Holman.
He is survived by one brother, Monroe King and wife, Patty; two sisters, Linda Kinder, and Phyllis Campbell, and husband, Mike, all of Swifton; his uncle, J.W. Hulen; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Fears, Angela Garland, Kristen Thelemier, Adam King, Tim Shelton, Carolyn Doty, Frank Shelton, Rusty Kinder, and Maston Kinder; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Swifton Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chuck Fears, Cody Garland, Adam King, Robert Templeton, Nick Templeton, and Tim Shelton.
The Swifton Class of 1968 will be the honorary pallbearers.
