Authorities report a Mountain View man ended up in the Independence County Jail early Saturday morning after fleeing from Deputy Nick Ade in the Sulphur Rock area.
According to the incident report, after Ade saw that the vehicle Joshua James Langston (pictured), 37, was driving had expired tags, the deputy tried to pull him over, but Langston fled in his vehicle, reaching speeds near 80 mph as it headed east on Harrison Street/State Highway 69.
When Langston was unable to negotiate a curve in the road at Magness, he got out of his vehicle but was ultimately taken into custody by Ade after a foot pursuit, the report said.
The police report said Langston told authorities he fled because he had warrants for his arrest. A check found Langston had warrants from multiple agencies, including one with the Arkansas Parole Board.
Langston’s arrest was just one of his worries Saturday morning.
The other was his 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck which caught on fire when the pursuit ended.
Authorities said Langston suffered minor injuries in the pursuit and arrest. He refused medical care and was taken to jail and charged with seven misdemeanors and one felony: possession of methamphetamine, less than 2 grams.
