Here’s an update on the June 20 Batesville Walmart Supercenter bomb threat.

According to Batesville Police, the department responded to a call from the store around 7:50 p.m. Monday. Authorities were told a male caller had contacted the store, and while speaking to a store associate, said he was going to “blow the store up.”

The store and surrounding businesses were evacuated and shut down, and explosive detection K9s from the North Little Rock Police Department responded to the scene.

After the area was searched and no explosives were found by the K9 team, the store was then released from the evacuation procedure, and it was back to normal operations.

Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill said valuable assistance was provided by the Batesville Fire Department, Arkansas State Police, the NLRPD, and Vital Link Ambulance.

Cockrill said the investigation is ongoing. The chief said no suspect or persons of interest will be named unless the prosecuting attorney’s office files charges.
