Two men involved in an altercation at a Stone County residence in early June have each been charged with committing a felony.

According to the court information, Stone County deputies found Ronald Jay Deese, 55, in the driveway of the residence, bloodied from suffering a non-fatal gunshot wound to his head. When ambulances arrived, Deese was transported to the Stone County Medical Center and then to the White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Deputies also located Don Edward Bullock, Jr., 42, about 300 feet up the driveway toward the residence. The court information said he was bloodied from being struck by an object.

Bullock told the police he had the whole incident recorded on his phone. According to the court information, deputies reported the video showed Deese striking Bullock multiple times in the head with a wooden stick while Bullock tried to escape from Deese. The video also showed Deese with a handgun in the waistband of his pants, according to the court documents. The handgun was taken by the deputies as evidence.

Ambulance personnel checked Bullock for injuries, but he was not transported to the hospital. Bullock told the deputies he was stabbed with a screwdriver near one of his hips.

Both men have been charged with second-degree battery, a felony. And both men were each placed on a $10,000 bond.
